Tying the knot II & mill

Just a few days now, and I still cannot find anything a miss, except the fact that i had forgotten to include the cake area in the recption seating plan tihihihi but that is all sorted now.

An interesting thing happened over the weekend though, I had gone in to collect my bracelet from the best shop in Nairobi Hobby Craft; the team, their work, their location all perfect and if you are getting married please visit that little shop and you will not be sorry! So anyway just before we left, our assistant and friend Joanita called us over to see some beads that her client had.. milk beads they are called found in Chad in plenty and there is an intriguing tale behind them(apparently they are worn by pregnant and nursing mums for milk flow hehe). We got talking and the lady client and ardent bead collector showed us an even more fascinating. They are called Millefiori beads meaning A Million Flowers. She had three pieces of the authentic beads made in Venice and brought to Africa in the 1800s for use as currency particularly in west Africa. I understand that these were even given in exchange for slaves. The irony of something so beautiful producing so much pain!

The white beads are the milk beads while the three tablet looking beads are the mille fiori encased with gold for longevity. Clearing this journey is getting more interesting.

Baraka Tele!
